smallAMP is library
which enables easier access to the Media Control Interface already
built-in to most
Windows operating systems. It is written in Visual Basic 6,
but can imported
with other languages, Visual Basic .NET 2003 for example. Its minimalist
design and usage
of the Windows API gives functionality while requiring only a few runtimes from VB6.
The smallAMP library
is guaranteed to play files in the MP3, WAV, MIDI and CDDA
formats, while other
formats are supported as long as the codec is installed. Video
playback is also
possible, though not entirely reliable yet.
Version 1.0.0 of smallAMP is available
for download. It is nowhere near ready
for end-user deployment, just for
development purposes. Keep in mind that
smallAMP is also distributed using the
GPL license, a copy of it is enclosed<
in each archive.
